Etiqa Insurance Singapore introduces coverage for COVID-19 vaccination side effects

Effective 15 February 2021, Etiqa Insurance Singapore is extending its free Financial Support Benefit to cover side effects of COVID-19 vaccination, with a Hospitalisation Benefit of up to S$1,000 over a maximum of 10 days, and an Intensive Care Unit Benefit of up to S$1,000 over a maximum of 5 days. This benefit applies to all life and eligible general insurance customers of Etiqa Insurance Singapore.

With the vaccine only recently released, authorities cautioned nonetheless that fear of side effects and subsequently delayed vaccination could put the community at greater risk1. By providing coverage for its customers, Etiqa offers certainty of protection, with which the insurer hopes would encourage more to take the vaccine as the country gradually reopens. This speaks to Etiqa’s motto to make the world a better place, as well as its commitment to facilitating Singapore’s recovery from the crisis.

Chief Executive Officer of Etiqa Insurance Singapore, Raymond Ong says, “We are heartened by the fighting spirit Singaporeans have shown in these challenging months, and are dedicated to play our part to support the community as it gets back on its feet. To overcome the pandemic and its lasting effects will take a consistent, combined effort. We look forward to continue walking with our customers in the months to come.”
