Beneficiary nomination ensures that the benefits from a life insurance policy go to the right person, with the right amount. It is legal and binding. Hence, it can help clear any dispute in the event of the policyholder’s demise.
Important things to note before nominating a beneficiary
Do’s and Don’ts when making a nomination
DO use your signature or right thumbprint when signing the forms.
DO get the witnesses to sign the form on the same day that you do.
DO nominate your spouse and/or children only in a Trust Nomination.
DO nominate anyone of your choice in a Revocable Nomination.
DO NOT hold witness signature till a later date as it will make the form invalid.
DO NOT nominate your favourite pets, people you don’t know, or any non-human things (yes, it happens sometimes).
